Ruke is a week-long event held every year in Herceg Novi, a town famous for its artist: painters, writers, musicians... and a home to many festivals. 

It was initiated in 2005 by local artisans and craft enthusiasts, who recognised the need for a creative event such as this in the area.  The event consists of a number of creative workshops and a crafts exhibition.  The workshops are primarily aimed at children and young people although the adults are more than welcome, if they wish to participate.  The exhibition part attracts both professional and amateur crafts men and women, who are invited to exhibit and if they wish so, sell their handicrafts.  The artisans are also invited to show their skills by demonstrating their techniques to the visitors of the exhibition.

The main organisers of Ruke are the Hercegfest, supported by volunteers and crafts enthusiasts.  Now in it’s forth year, Ruke hopes to grow both in the number of the participants and visitors as well as in the content and quality of its offering.
